Varo Medical is a family-owned GP clinic in Taroona, Tasmania, founded by Dr Tim and Dr Tom with a clear mission: to provide community-focused healthcare in Hobart, while welcoming new patients. Built on trust, approachability and genuine connection, Varo Medical has quickly become a recognised name in southern Tasmania. What began as a response to a local need is now a growing medical clinic grounded in care, compassion and community.

Glouglou Studio delivered the full brand identity package, which includes naming, art direction, logo design and website design for Tasmanian-based medical clinic, Varo Medical.
The name itself is a portmanteau of the founders’ surnames — Vandenberg and Toro — forming the short, sharp and memorable 'Varo'. The logo design reflects this simplicity. A modern sans serif wordmark anchors the identity with confidence and clarity, while a serif heading font adds warmth and professionalism. Paired with a considered coastal colour palette, the result is a timeless but highly recognisable brand identity designed to grow with the clinic.
The art direction draws directly from Varo’s roots in Taroona. With future expansion in mind, we ensured the brand felt established and scalable, while still deeply connected to place. We collaborated with Tasmanian photographer Emma Visman, guiding a photoshoot of the doctors — and their dogs — at the local beach. The imagery informed the brand palette: ocean blues, leafy greens and soft neutrals inspired by the surrounding landscape. The outcome is a medical brand identity that feels grounded, human and distinctly Tasmanian.
Beyond branding, Glouglou Studio has led website design, copywriting, social media strategy and EDM communications for Varo Medical. Through accessible language, consistent visual storytelling and clear patient-focused messaging, we have helped establish Varo as a trusted GP clinic in Hobart. The combination of strategic naming, thoughtful brand identity and ongoing marketing support has positioned Varo Medical as both a professional healthcare provider and a true community cornerstone.
